Town Lane Infant School Homework Timetable
This homework timetable is intended to be progressive, manageable and build upon learning in school to begin a desire for lifelong learning. We see the amounts as age appropriate and take into consideration the shorter concentration span of the younger children.
Nursery (Foundation 1)
- Maths library, changed weekly
- Library books changed weekly
Reception (Foundation 2)
- Library books change weekly or more frequently if parents wish
- Reading Scheme Books
- Word/sound recognition games as appropriate
- Maths library games- changed every week.
Year 1
- Library - books changed weekly or more frequently if parents wish
- Reading Scheme Books - some of which may contain oral comprehension sheets
- Daily practice books
- Weekly, personalised Look/Cover/Write/Check spellings
- Word recognition games as appropriate
- Maths prompt sheets
- Learning Logs
- Numbots online activities
Year 2
- Library - books changed weekly or more frequently if parents wish
- Reading Scheme Books - following guided reading - some of which may contain oral comprehension sheets
- Daily practice books
- Weekly, personalised Look/Cover/Write/Check spellings
- Word recognition games as appropriate
- Maths prompt sheets

It is vital that the early stages of learning are successful and a positive experience leading to a lifelong love of learning.
We do expect that children will spend very short periods of time reinforcing learning in school for example no longer than fifteen/twenty minutes any evening. Regular short enjoyable sessions will be most beneficial.
We have also taken into consideration the fact that many parents may have more than one child to support with homework and the extra curricular activities that many children may take part in.
