Geography Intent
As geographers at Town Lane Infant School, pupils will be curious and develop a fascination about the world and its people. We aim to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people and natural and human environments and give children a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. We aim where possible to deliver a geography curriculum that makes links within planned topics and gives children opportunities to learn through practical experience using our local area to support and enhance their learning. In addition, the children are immersed in geographical vocabulary which has been carefully planned for. In the Foundation Stage, children will have the opportunity to explore the world around them to develop their understanding of the world through practical hands on experiences alongside carefully chosen texts and media sources.
We believe that all children should have equality of opportunity and should be able to access the curriculum regardless of race, religion, gender or ability.
